A soldier fights another battle

 This was composed in honor of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa,  who managed to endure and survive for six long days after the Siachen avalanche under the harshest possible conditions, only to finally succumb in a hospital:

A soldier fights another battle,
Lying comatose in a hospital,
Fighting for his life.

Doctors too are on a war footing,
Battling all odds to save his life.

Our Nation's imagination is all captured,
By this miracle at Siachen,

Our hands are clapsed, and minds are full of prayers,
Oh God! Let this hero emerge victorious.

Yes, soldiers often make the supreme sacrifice,
While on line of duty.

But this one is different,
He is a hero among the heroes.
An icon for the youth,
A role model for our children,
And a pride for our society.

The whole Nation is praying hard,
The best medicos are struggling hard,
Victory cannot for long be playing truant,
For now, it is a unique battle being fought.
